Guide for playing the game in a custom language
The community has translated Reus into several languages, and most of these are distributed with the game. Do you want to play Reus with a language not officially supported? Here's how to do that.
Step 1: get your translation files
Reus translation files are
.cvs files that are read by the game during startup. The community has translated some languages already, including the unpatched Russian and Chinese languages. These files can be found at
http://abbeygames.com/files/reus/translations.zip. You'll find the translation files for Russian and Chinese in the
zh-CN directories respectively.
Step 2: put the files into the Reus' Localization directory
For the Steam version of the game, this is usually at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Reus\Settings\Localization. Put the language file into it's own directory. The directory should be named after a language code (for example
ru for Russian), and the file inside should be called
Step 3: edit Config.xml to load your language
Config.xml is found inside the Reus folder in your Documents folder. Usually this is at
C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Reus\Config.xml. Edit the file so that the
<Language> tag looks like this:
<Language> <Overridden>true</Overridden> <Language>your_language_code</Language> </Language>
your_language_code should be replaced with the language code that you used when creating the directory in step 2.
If there is no
<Language> tag, try starting Reus and setting any language other than English through the options menu.
